“Last year was busy,” comedian Chad Daniels says casually over the phone between shows. The Fergus Falls native and Acme Comedy Co. alum has seen his career steadily rise in recent years, but 2017 has been his best yet. After a wildly successful album, Footprints on the Moon, and signing with the prestigious William Morris Endeavor (WME), Daniels will cap off his year by performing in front of his biggest Twin Cities audience to date Thanksgiving weekend. “The last time I did a week at Acme, every show was sold out,” Daniels says. “Louis [Lee, Acme owner] said that maybe we should try a bigger venue next time. I was skeptical, because I always wonder how many people are coming out to see me as opposed to just coming to Acme because they know it’s going to be good, but I figured it was worth a shot.” If you’ve never heard Daniels perform, you’re missing out on one of the best comedians out there today. Not just locally, but anywhere. From horror stories about raising children to fantastically self-aware opinions on gender dynamics in relationships, Daniels gives no fucks about coddling the audience. “My kids are coming to the show. I might bring them out at the end for Q&A or something,” he says. Take a break from your family drama this weekend and come watch someone else’s unfold.
