A true Californian through and through, Santa Monica native and deft multi-instrumentalist Zach Yudin has used his band Cayucas' debut album, Big Foot, as a promotional platform for beach-based living. (Deluxe versions of the album come packaged with a beach ball.) Working in the studio alongside ace producer Richard Swift, Yudin created deceptively layered tunes that stick to the sunny side of life. His chilled-out croon touts seasonal flings on "A Summer Thing" and ocean-proximal bliss during "Deep Sea" while blending classic Beach Boys bounce with the quirk-pop leanings of early Shins. While started as a one-man band, Cayucas has morphed post-recording into a full-fledged group and is currently touring the country as a five-piece. With JBM. 18+.
