Every Mon., Tue., Wed., Thu., and Fri. from June 25-July 23
Caroline Kent, who just added a McKnight Artist Fellowship grant to her list of numerous awards, will be showcasing her work at Public Functionary in a solo exhibition. The show features large-scale paintings from an ongoing series where she attempts to define a painting language. The pieces, in which elements emerge from black backgrounds, explore cosmic space and altered dimensions through the use of shapes, motifs, and patterns. Also included in the show is a glass case filled with abstract paintings on paper that employ textual commentary to examine the relationship between word and image. The opening reception takes place on Saturday, June 25, from 7 p.m. to midnight.
