Carlos Alazraqui is probably best known for his role on Comedy Central's Reno 911, where he played Officer James Garcia. Others know him from his voice work on cartoons such as Fairly Odd Parents, Rocko's Modern Life, and Handy Manny. Fans of Reno who come to see him do standup are often surprised by his vocal display, which he likes to weave in and out of his set. "People are like, 'I didn't know you could do all those voices.' That's generally the reaction I get if they just know me from Reno 911." His repertoire even includes a hilarious take on fellow comedian Chris Rock. "I do that in a bit about world peace. It's a bit of a visual number," he adds. Alazraqui's interest in voices came not from watching cartoons as a kid, which he did, but more from his family and friends. His parents are Argentine. His father was educated in English schools, while his mother maintained what Alzraqui describes as a "fake" accent. To further add to the mix, his best friend's parents were from Glasgow, Scotland. "All kinds of characters would come over and I would imitate them. I came into this odd world by osmosis, and just kind of absorbed it." 18+; 21+ later shows.
