Burlesque at the Museum
What do burlesque and dusty old museums have in common? Not much, unless you hit up the Historic Mounds Theatre for Burlesque at the Museum. Here, the extraordinary entertainers of Toil & Trouble will present their second show of the season. Think of it a little like Night at the Museum sans Ben Stiller and with a whole lot of glitter, feathers, and tassels. The troupe's previous event, Faerie Tale Burlesque Theatre, drew crowds from all over the metro to see their naughty spin on some of the prissiest princesses in the land. This time, comedian and host Colleen Kruse will take audiences on a figurative field trip to the museum while exploring the cheeky bits of history, science, and art. You'll want to sneak a peek at this show, which will feature the spunky Nasty Canasta and the Dolls of Doom, Tomahawk Tassels, Redbone, Musette, and others. Local (and national) burlesque hotshot Ophelia Flame will also grace the stage with her signature blazing red locks and sultry moves. You definitely won't need a permission slip to see this wild exhibit, so don't miss your chance to catch a glimpse of these museum shenanigans after the lights go down. (Pictured: Ophelia Flame)
