Bud, Not Buddy

Anyone who experienced even a taste of dislocation and uproar during childhood knows well how fraught and fearful the experience can be, and CTC's latest new production adapts Christopher Paul Curtis's novel to drive the point home. The story centers on a 10-year-old boy named Bud during the Great Depression. Bud decides to bail on his latest foster home and travel more than 100 miles across Michigan in a search for his father. Of course it's not all bad news: This story for ages nine and up is ultimately about the challenges every life faces, and the growth we experience when we face up to them. Tony Award-nominated Marion McClinton directs.
