A potentially disgraced megastar on the comeback trail, a catalyst of moral turpitude (her latest single spells the F-U-C-K word!), the subject of one of the creepiest episodes of South Park ever and the obsession of local art eccentric Scott Seekins -- well, if anything, Britney Spears has managed to avoid becoming a boring relic of this decade's baffling first half. While she's never been able to make great pop art out of shock value like Madonna or engage in staggering stylistic 180s like Christina Aguilera, it's weirdly comforting to know that Spears manages to persevere somehow, even as potential usurpers like Katy Perry and Lady GaGa have tried to steal her spotlight. Her latest album Circus isn't wowing the fans who were knocked flat on their asses by "Toxic" all those years ago, but it's doing well enough to give them a potential sign that she's in this pop thing for the long haul. With the Pussycat Dolls.
