Ever wanted to earn a spot in the Guinness World Records? It's your lucky weekend with Booya! Palooza rolling into Loring Park. The celebration will invite folks from all over the state to help beat the world record for most hula hoopers at a single venue. Event organizers expect more than 5,000 hoopers to twist in the park, hopefully putting Minneapolis into the record books (participants must hula hoop for a total of three minutes to shatter the former record). Feel like your skills are a little wobbly? There will be class demonstrations by the Booya! Studio team to help even the most amateur hula athletes. You'll be able to get your groove on with music from Jimmi and the Band of Souls and other local groups during the party. After working up an appetite, feast on great eats provided by Twin Cities vendors. So let loose and celebrate summer this weekend with a few thousand (new) friends, a hula hoop, and Guinness World Records bragging rights. Proceeds from the happening will benefit Free Arts Minnesota, an organization committed to healing young lives through artistic expression. For more info, visit www.studiobooya.com.
