Books-On-A-Boat Authors Festival
How many best-selling local authors can fit on a boat? A dozen, according to the Books-On-A-Boat Authors Festival. This Wednesday, the crème de la crème of bestselling Minnesota writers will gather on the Minnesota Centennial Showboat to talk about publishing's electronic revolution in two panel discussions. Authors will also explain their writing processes, take questions from the audience, and sign books. Former WCCO anchor Don Shelby, who recently penned The Season Never Ends, will moderate the talks. Participants include Dara Beevas, publisher at Beaver's Pond Press and author of Indie Author Revolution; award-winning mystery writer Marilyn Jax; and Joe Kimball, author of Secrets of the Congdon Mansion, a bestseller about the real-life murders in Duluth. Audience members will have a chance to enter raffles, receive various discounts, and enjoy complimentary snacks and entertainment. Part of the proceeds from ticket sales will go to the St. Paul Rotary Club's Second Century Scholarship Fund, which grants a $20,000 college scholarship every year to a St. Paul high-school student.
