Bomba de Luz Live in Chicago release
As a sophomore in high school, Lydia Liza Hoglund recruited a group of her friends to establish Bomba de Luz. Two Battle of the Bands wins provided them with the opportunity to record, mix, and master their 2010 self-titled EP at McNally Smith College of Music, followed by the full-length What a Heavy Weight. Their unique blend of folk, rock, and jazz, led by Hoglund's remarkable vocal presence and songwriting talent, quickly garnered the attention of local media and music heavyweights like Rhymesayers and the Current. Hoglund has gone on to tour with Atmosphere, Toki Wright, and Dem Atlas. This Wednesday, the former classmates are preparing to celebrate their third release, Live in Chicago, at the Amsterdam Bar and Hall. Live in Chicago is a prequel to their third studio album, Ember, featuring songs from the upcoming album as well as previously released work recorded live at Treehouse Records in Chicago.
