Blue Dream Journeys: Ananya Dance Theatre
As part of the Northern Spark Festival, Ananya Dance Theatre presents an all-night, audience participatory performance that begins outside Northrop and culminates in the venue's brand new Hubbard Broadcasting Rehearsal Studio. ADT is known for fusing the Indian dance form Odissi with martial arts to create resonant political dance theater, and its latest work is inspired by stories of women's aspirations to achieve their dreams. The piece moves metaphorically from the midnight blues of past pain and lost hope toward a brighter dawn of dreams incarnated. Audiences are invited to join the performers as they move through a labyrinth that begins on the David M. Lilly Plaza outside and winds its way into the rehearsal studio, where they will be greeted by Jack Becker's cloudscape installation and a communal dance with live music by Greg Schutte. Performances are every hour, on the hour, from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. (Photo by V. Paul Virtucio)
