Much like how harvest festivals celebrated the bounty of feudal societies, Black Friday celebrates capitalism and our ability to spend. A bad harvest could mean a difficult time in the months that follow, so it's probably best to celebrate in case things get impossibly bad. People looking to blow off a little Thanksgiving steam and have a good time should enjoy Black Friday at the Loft (located above Bar Fly). For starters, partiers who pay an additional $10 get unlimited drinks from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m., which should help any shy patrons loosen up on the dance floor. Live music includes hip hop from Big Zach and Alicia Steele (both from Kanser), Bight Club, Longshot, and Parallax. Psychedelic/electronic DJs Larva Ink and Anton Kayne will spin sets as well. The night is also as visual as it is sonic: There will be plenty of live art throughout the party with rooftop mural creations, silk-screen art, video projections, and body painting by artists including Yuck!!66, Time Squid, SoundsofCaldwell, and more. If that's not enough, the indoor skate park should entertain as well.
