Bike and Bite 2012: Year of the Cooperative
While quite a few bike-themed events have invited cyclists to explore the city this season, none have taken a culinary approach quite like Bike and Bite. The happening, put on by the Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy, will take foodies on a self-guided two-wheeled tour to various co-ops and businesses that work with co-ops. At each spot, guests will be able to sample edibles and learn a little bit about the organizations and people who make the Minnesota food scene so great. Stops along the route include the Wedge, Growing Lots Urban Farm, Tamales y Bicycletas, Mill City Farmers' Market, Omega House, and Seward Co-op Grocery and Deli, which just celebrated its 40th anniversary. There will also be a sneak peek of Kim Bartmann's (owner of Bryant-Lake Bowl, Red Stag, Barbette, Pat's Tap) latest venture. The journey concludes at IATP's headquarters, where riders will continue to party it up with food, drinks, and live music among local food lovers. For tickets, visit www.iatp.org.
