Big Fun Radio Funtime!
From prehistoric cave paintings of ancient cultures to the digitized visions of our contemporary world, people have always created art and entertainment using the technology of their era. The next time one of Hollywood's heavily hyped special-effects extravaganzas falls flat, though, it's useful to remember that technological sophistication is no substitute for an inspired imagination. Consider the case of radio. Though its golden age ran from the early 1920s through the early 1950s, the creative ingenuity found in many pioneering radio programs can put modern blockbusters to shame. Exemplifying this point, the farcical minds at Fearless Comedy Productions are presenting Big Fun Radio Funtime!, an original work designed to encapsulate such radio genres as soap operas, detective noir, and science fiction. Performed by an assembly of voice actors before a live audience, the production boasts writing contributions from four heavily lauded local comics: Matt Allex, David Walbridge, Jerry Stearns, and Tim Wick. Big Fun Radio Funtime! also represents one of the initial forays of Fearless Comedy Productions, a collaborative effort consisting of independent performers and seven smaller partner companies. Having pooled resources and talent to promote the cause of comic daring, this introductory work from Fearless Comedy demonstrates that no matter how much technology has changed, an engaging sense of humor still comes through loud and clear.
