Beer, Burgers, and the Bard
Can a production be simultaneously kitschy and in touch with iambic pentameter? The answer to this quandary was answered last week at the Guthrie. Their production of Shakespeare's romantic comedy, The Two Men of Verona, spun a play penned in the 16th century into the retro setting of a '50s television studio. The setup is timeless anyway: Friends on a road trip face the dilemma of two guys, two girls, one confusing love square. Sunday you can enjoy this modern take on Shakespeare the way that the original theater folk did: with beer and meat. The pre-show party features Summit beer, tasty sliders (vegetarian sliders will also be served), and DJ tunes from Eric Lovold. We promise it will bring ye a swingin' goode tyme.
