Mistress Ginger (a.k.a. performer Justin Leaf) is one fabulous cabaret crooner who promises to "sing the songs that got your grandmother into bed." (Oh my, I'm blushing already!) Joined by musical director and accompanist Kenny Kiser, as well as performer Emily Tyra in a variety of roles, Mistress Ginger will share her lusty and lively stories, interpret a bunch of classic tunes by Johnny Mercer, Billy Strayhorn, Cole Porter, Duke Ellington, and George Gershwin, premiere a short film shot on the streets of Uptown, and in all ways own the tiny BLB stage. Leaf, a gifted, Juilliard-trained dancer who won a 2007 Sage Award for Broadway Bound... and Gagged is also a member of Minnesota Dance Theatre, so expect Mistress Ginger to bust a move every once in a while.
Fridays, 7 p.m. Starts: July 10. Continues through July 24, 2009
