Bebe Miller Company: A History
Bebe Miller is no stranger to the Twin Cities. Bebe Miller Company — formed in 1985 — toured extensively for decades, performing at the Walker Art Center and as part of Northrop's dance season. Today, BMC is a "virtual" company. Its members collaborate via digital media, and come together several times a year to workshop new pieces. BMC's 2012 project, A History, features longtime company members Angie Hauser and Darrell Jones (with input from dramaturg Talvin Wilks and video artist Lily Skove). Miller calls the piece "an archeological dig into the last 10 years" of change in American culture. An accompanying exhibition, "Tracing History," illuminates Miller's choreography, personal story, and creative process, and includes the video installation Moving Portraits of BMC collaborators.
