Barhopping: Moscow on the Hill
The decor may not be as trendy or posh as at bars like Chino Latino or Solera, but if you can get over the peasant shirts nailed to the walls, you'll quickly find that Moscow on the Hill has some of the best martinis and champagne cocktails in town. Though they'll gladly make up a gin martini for you, it really is a crime not to drink vodka in a Russian bar. Looking for a strong martini with a little twist? Ask the always-helpful bartenders for suggestions, or go with your favorite flavor. Dirty martinis usually hit the spot, but if you're more adventurous, the Russian Roulette (homemade horseradish vodka, Jägermeister, dry vermouth) is as crazy as it sounds, and the Mikhail's Martini (Stoli Coffee, Stoli Vanil, splash of Amaretto) is sweet but comes with a kick if you eat the coffee beans that float on top. Someone in your group not that into martinis? The Marusya Gold (1.5 shots of homemade cherry vodka, champagne) is a gorgeous golden cocktail that glows as much as you will after finishing it.
