Ballet of the Dolls: Fashion Ball 2012
Once upon a time, the quirky Ballet of the Dolls decided to unify dance, theater, and fashion in the land of the Twin Cities. Thus, Fashion Ball was born. Stylist Grant Whittaker and Dolls artistic director Myron Johnson have proved their prowess at making the event a night to remember. This year, the annual Dolls fundraiser will present Fashion Fairytales. Saturday's pre-performance reception offers edible treats from local favorites Chowgirls Killer Catering and cocktails from Prairie Organic Vodka while guests bid on prize packages during a silent auction. The Fashion Ball's main performance transports crowds far, far away, as theatrics and fashion meld onstage to mesmerizing effect. The Ritz provides the backdrop for this storybook night, and after the show audiences can meet the performers, designers, and artists. Ballet of the Dolls is famed for combining glamorous dance moves with extra-sultry cabaret for a divinely naughty effect. And don't worry about turning into a pumpkin after midnight; this party spotlights clothing from the crème de la crème of local stores, so you'll be able to scope out your favorite looks to buy later. Searching for a happily ever after? Look no further than a night at Fashion Ball. Friday night's party features a fashion performance and after-party; Saturday's event includes a pre-party, two performances, and an after party with additional treats. (Photos by Rhea Pappas)
