Arts on Chicago Celebration
Arts on Chicago, the community-based project run by Pillsbury House Theatre, is in full swing and ready to celebrate. This Saturday, folks will find 20 art projects showcasing more than 40 neighborhood artists. The festival will include activities such as pavement painting, an urban/environmental nature hike with Stephanie Rogers, stilt-walking practice, walking tours of Wing Young Huie's outdoor photography exhibit "We are the Other," screenprinting at the PHAT Mobile, poetry writing, face painting, and collage workshops. There will be a performance from Open Eye Figure Theatre's Driveway Tour Puppet Show, and visual art by Stephanie Rogers, HOTTEA, Forrest Wozniack, TAWU (The Art Within Us) artists' collective, Michael Hoyt, and Upstream Arts at various locations. A bike-rack installation will be on view at Modern Times in the morning, and there will be an art pedicab running along Chicago Avenue during the event. The 38th and Chicago Business Association's annual BBQ and Music Festival will also be happening from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more info, visit www.ArtsOnChicago.com. (Photo by Mike Hoyt)
