Art(ists) on the Verge 3
Now in its third year, "Art(ists) on the Verge 3" will highlight fresh work from five local artists who have participated in a yearlong mentor-based fellowship. The exhibition, which in previous years has been housed at the U of M and the Weisman Museum, will feature interactive pieces exploring the ways in which art intertwines with technology in the digital and social-networking era. There will be plenty for guests to play with throughout the gallery space, including intriguing works such as an urban planning video game by Aaron Westre, live body projections by Anthony Tran, and paintings of Powderhorn Park using video by Mike Hoyt. Other artists include Drew Anderson and Caly McMorrow. Mentors for this year's participating artists are Christopher Baker, Wing Young Huie, Katherine Milton, Jenny Schmid, and Diane Willow. There will be an opening reception from 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday, March 3. There will also be artists' talks at 8 p.m. Friday, March 23 and 30. (Pictured: Work by Drew Anderson)
