Art in Bloom
You know spring is here when Art in Bloom, the annual fundraiser thrown by the Friends of the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, finally arrives. The four-day festival features gorgeous flowers arranged thematically with the museum's collection, creating an atmosphere of beauty not to be missed. Beginning this Thursday, Art in Bloom will offer parties, docent-led tours, lectures, and demonstrations, plus top florists showing off their most magnificent bouquets. You won't want to miss Flowers After Hours, a free event that includes live music and a fashion show, emceed by Alexis and Elizabeth from myTalk 107.1, where the dresses and accessories will be made entirely out of flowers. The party also includes a "BloomOff" where contestants compete to create fashion accessories made out of the contents of a mystery box. On Saturday, there will be a family-friendly event starting at 10:30 a.m. with crafts and activities for children. Later in the day at 2 p.m., musicians from the Madeline Island Music Camp's fellowship quartet program will perform at the Regis Fountain Court. For a full schedule of happenings, visit artsmia.org.
