Art for Choice
For over 42 years, Pro-Choice Resources has fought locally to provide Minnesota youth and women with information and services. Each year they help over 25,000 individuals obtain the health care they need when they otherwise might not have been able to afford it. In an effort to raise funds for the organization, more than 30 local artists have donated works that will be up for auction tonight at the W. Pieces include a misty photograph of a beach in France by Alec Soth, a trippy rendition of Liquor Lyle's by painter Michael Birawer, and pictures of toys going about their lives by Jaime Carrera, as well as many others. Dress fancy, enjoy cocktails and appetizers, and bid on your favorite works. There will also be live music by DJs Eros and TK, and '70s and '80s cover band Bellebottom. All proceeds benefit Pro-Choice Resources. Check out the artwork online at www.artforchoice.org or visit Nina Bliese Gallery (225 S. Sixth St., Minneapolis; 612.332.2978) through October 1 to see pieces in person.
