April Artists' of the Month Opening Party
Raw seafood is probably not the first thing that springs to mind when thinking about landlocked cuisine, 10,000 lakes-factor aside. But thanks to massive innovations in food transportation, Minnesotans can enjoy sushi as much and as often as our friends on the coasts. This month's "Artists of the Month" show at the Northern Clay Center will celebrate the entire sushi experience, not only the act of eating it, but also the art of making and presenting it. Pieces on display and sale will include practical and usable sushi pottery. Overwhelmed at the prospect of eating raw fish outside of a restaurant setting? The opening party is not to be missed, then. A master chef from Fuji-Ya will demonstrate the challenging art of sushi making, and will assuage any fears you have of dealing with sticky rice, seaweed, and blocks of sushi-grade fish. An expert will also be on hand to talk about sake, which goes with sushi as well as beer goes with pizza. Are you still wary of making your own seafood concoctions? Enjoy the sushi and sake samples at the party, buy some pottery, and place a takeout order at your favorite sushi restaurant. Purchase sushi. Place items on your new dishware, throw out the container, invite some friends over, et voila! Call 612.339.8007 ext. 300 to RSVP.
