“Another Voice” features hundreds of works from the nation’s top illustrators. The pieces, which were originally published in the Progressive from 1981-1999, skewer and illuminate the same issues threatening democracy, social justice, racial equity, and the environment today. Patrick JB Flynn, art director at the Progressive during that time, compiled the illustrations, drawings, collages, and paintings for the exhibition. Also on view are works by local artists — including Sue Coe, Michael Duffy, Ralph Steadman, and Anita Kunz — whose pieces complement the show’s celebration of unfettered editorial expression. John Schuerman of the now defunct Instinct Gallery had a hand in bringing this collection to MCAD; he’ll host a panel talk next month. There will be a public reception from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, January 20, and an artists’ talk Wednesday, February 8, at 6:30 p.m.
