Chicago's Angel Olsen is smoldering on the strength of her just-released third studio album, Burn Your Fire for No Witness. Clearly a kindred musical spirit of Sharon Van Etten, and possessor of a similarly world-weary and slightly twangy sound, Olsen is at her best when releasing occasional bursts of fiery indignation. Fire's blend of barbed bluesy rambles and hazy folk-pop rewards close listening and positions Olson as one of the most engaging Americana-inflected singer-songwriters of recent years. With Promised Land Sound, the Awful Truth. All ages.
