Andy Kindler is known as a comic who sometimes makes fun of standup comedy, but after serving as a judge on NBC's Last Comic Standing he's encouraged by the state of the art form. "In the old days there were so many comedic devices that people used that were so familiar," he recalls. "Now, when you see all these comics in such a short period of time, you see that there are certain conventions that are still popular. There are people still doing, 'I'm half this ethnic background, half the other ethnic background,' which kind of drives me crazy. People are still asking if you've seen or heard what they're talking about, 'Have you heard about this? Would you laugh if I did a thing about this?' That kind of drives me nuts." Overall, though, he's been impressed. "I'm so used to building my career on making fun of comedy. It's cool to see that it has gotten better." 18+.
