American Red Cross Blood Drive
As William Shakespeare once wrote, "If you prick us do we not bleed?" We do indeed, and when we bleed too much it's nice to know that the blood of others can help us survive. But much like clean water or air, blood is sometimes scarce or unavailable. According to the American Red Cross, though around 60 percent of the population is eligible to give blood, only 5 percent do. That's why it's important to donate. If you haven't given blood since high school, this Wednesday's drive is an excellent opportunity. Rather than sitting around in a gymnasium or trailer, you can enjoy the sights and sounds of the Conservatory. Bring a book, and after donating regain your strength on a bench among the exotic flora and fauna. The abundant warmth of the place is also ideal for those in need of reheating before walking outside back into the cold.
