Always and Forever
Do you need to shake the holiday blues? Burned out on traditional seasonal offerings? Want something fresh to do in the new year? Starting this week, Illusion brings back Always and Forever for a return engagement. The musical revue takes the audience back to the 1970s for a day at an African-American barbershop. Here, the characters share their experiences with love and life via a string of hot soul, R&B, and funk tunes. The songs include plenty of out-and-out classics like "Tears of a Clown" and "Signed, Sealed, Delivered" along with other, lesser-known but still great examples of music from the era. Created by Richard D. Thompson, Sanford L. Moore, and Garry Q. Lewis, this special edition adds some holiday favorites to the mix, including a brand-new tune. The four-member cast includes Julius C. Collins III, David Hurst, Jackson Hurst, and Dennis Spears. Fans of the show can now take home a keepsake of the experience, with the original cast album. It features three of the same players, along with T. Mychael Rambo (who is busy at Park Square Theatre this month). (Photo by Lauren B. Photography)
