Without even meaning to you probably know the cartoon character featured on your favorite box of cereal, can recite the slogan associated with half the candy bars in your work's vending machine, and can recognize the cars associated with a handful of hood ornaments. But why? And what does this mean? This is the theme of Altered Esthetics' latest group show, "Adverti$ing." Pieces featured will explore the world of product branding, advertising campaigns, company mascots, and what this means for us as consumers. Expect plenty of corporate logos, cartoon characters, and other things created to nab your dollar. The opening reception is from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday, December 3. An artists' discussion will also be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 18. (Art by James Powell)
