abNORML Minnesota Annual 420 Party

The members of NORML (that's the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws, for you straight edge kids out there) are not your garden-variety pot smokers. They are organized, versed in the law, and visible. They've spent almost 40 years trying to, at the very least, make pot laws less extreme. They've made some progress, as many municipalities have now loosened their marijuana laws and some states have legalized it for medical use, but there's a lot of work left. Along with marijuana users and sympathizers around North America, NORML will celebrate the stoners' holiday of 4/20 a day early. The Cabooze will host funk band Down Lo, roots jammers Enchanted Ape, reggae band the Limns, and piano songstress Kari Marie to raise funds for the Minnesota NORML chapter, which is lobbying to have a medical marijuana bill passed, so far to no avail. If you want to be buds with NORML but can't make it to the 4/20 party, check out the group's social gatherings every first and third Sunday at the Eagles Club in Minneapolis—at 4:20 in the afternoon, of course. $7 for 21+; $10 for 18+.
