A Short Play About Globalization
In Dominic Orlando's new play, an FBI agent goes to a Mexican town in search of his missing sister, a journalist investigating the real-life disappearance and murder of hundreds of women along the Mexican-U.S. border. When I sat down last month to talk about the play with Orlando, he acknowledged its topical politics but stressed his need to reach an audience. "I feel like a play can be adventuresome and exciting without putting people off," he told me. "I call it the 'Aunt Rose factor.' If my Aunt Rose comes to my show I want her to have a good time. If she doesn't, what kind of theater is that?" Well said.
Fridays, Saturdays, 8 p.m.; Sundays, 7 p.m. Starts: Sept. 8. Continues through Sept. 23, 2007
