A John Waters Christmas
John Waters has a slightly different outlook on Christmas. "I wish I could take a group of crackheads Christmas caroling. Wouldn't that be great? Just a group of insane crackheads singing 'Silent Night.' It would be horrifying." It's because of that unique sense of humor that Waters's hilarious, off-center, and slightly uncomfortable one-man holiday show has been going strong for the past 10 years. This weekend, the "Prince of Puke" returns to town to spread holiday cheer with A John Waters Christmas. From holiday horror stories ("In my home I actually decorated an electric chair for Christmas") to his thoughts on fashion and Santa Claus ("Do not dress up as Santa Claus if you weren't asked to. And if you have a fat friend, do not immediately ask him to be Santa, either"), his mile-a-minute monologue is not for the faint of heart. "By now I like to think that if you're coming to my show, that you know what you're in for," he quips. "I've had very few people walk out before, so I think everyone is pretty well prepared for the evening." Just in case you're still on the fence about whether or not to add John Waters to your Christmas list this December, know that this is likely your only chance to see the holiday show for quite some time. "I don't know that I've ever performed the Christmas show in Minneapolis before," Waters says. "But I always wait at least two years before bringing the same show to a town." You've been warned. 18+.
