7th Annual Treasures for Teens
During the holiday season it's not uncommon for people to spend more time at food shelves, give money to good causes, and to donate toys so that poor families can have Christmas for their children. And it's wonderful that people do these things, because the need for human kindness is greater this time of year. But what about teens and older children, those who can't turn to their family for support due to past abuse, neglect, or exploitation? Those whose chances of adoption are slim to none? For youth and young adults aged 15 to 21, there's Avenues for Homeless Youth, an organization that provides emergency housing, addresses issues including lack of health care and incomplete education, and promotes constructive self-reliance. This Saturday marks the seventh annual benefit for the group. The event will include a variety of live music with host Miss Shannan from B96, as well as a silent art auction, appetizers by Rock Bottom Brewery, and cocktail tastings.
