For over a decade, Intermedia Arts has opened up its galleries for an annual show, titled "55408," showcasing artists of all experience levels who live within the zip code. This year, Intermedia is rolling out "554CHANGE," a similarly themed exhibition featuring pieces by 27 Minneapolis-based artists, curated by Maria Cristina Tavera and Theresa Sweetland. The show will highlight new works by Gordon Coons, Bill Cottman, Pete Driessen, Mike Hoyt, Tammy Ortegon, Stephanie Rogers, and Erin Sayer, among others. There will also be contributions from Works Progress and Kulture Klub Collaborative. The opening reception this Thursday will include an art swap run by a team of five artists — from places such as Minneapolis, Los Angeles, and Shanghai — who will invite people to bring a work of art to donate in exchange for a new piece to take home (participants will also be invited to pose for an "I bought/I got" photo). There will be a public reception from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, July 11. (Artwork by Jeremi Hanson, Jimi)
