32 x 4
The new photography exhibition, "32X4," at the Minneapolis Central Library proves the dusty cliché, "The more things change, the more they stay the same," to be true about Twin Cities neighborhoods. For the project, local photographers Michael Dvorak, Dusty Hoskovec, Sarah Stacke, and Xavier Tavera were dispatched to 32 neighborhoods throughout the cities to document the lives of residents. The black-and-white and color photos were then displayed to contrast with historic maps and old photographs of some of the same places captured decades earlier. The result is a sort of family photo album for the Twin Cities, demonstrating how the area has changed and evolved through the years, while also showing how neighborhood composition and immigrant locations have largely stayed the same.
Tuesdays-Sundays. Starts: Dec. 12. Continues through March 1, 2008
