25th Anniversary Open House

The performing arts center originally called the Ordway Music Theatre celebrates 25 years with an open house that documents its quarter-century of existence. In typical open-house fashion, visitors can go behind the scenes on a self-guided tour or read up on the theater's development, documented in drawings, renderings, and the letters of architect Ben Thompson. The Minnesota Opera, St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, and Schubert Club will perform throughout the day, though the onstage entertainment will be in the hands of the lesser-known: Visitors will get 25 each seconds to take the stage for a song, dance, or slam-poetry recitation (a stereo, iPod hook-up, and piano with accompanist are available for performers). But the open house isn't just about reminiscing: Plans for the addition of a proposed 1,100-seat concert hall will be on view for the first time as well.
