2012/13 McKnight Visual Artists Exhibition
The 2012/13 McKnight Fellows in visual arts are an illustrious, industrious bunch. This exhibition demonstrates what they've been up to since receiving their fellowships. Architecture is somewhat of a theme: Jim Denomie — a trickster of the marvelous sort — has painted a large canvas that tweaks and reveals the torments of artists' and architects' creative process, while Chris Larson's collection, "Insecure Architecture," constructs intriguing spaces with cast-off building materials. Meanwhile, the ever-inventive and intellectually driven Ruben Nusz plays with perception in painting installations designed to challenge how we see art. Natasha Pestich investigates institutional frameworks and site-based intervention in her fictional look at art school curricula. There will be an opening reception from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, June 14. (Jim Denomie, The Creative Oven)
