2010: The Year We Make Contact
As 2010 roars to life, so will the stage at the Marriott City Center's Grand Ballroom. Loyal to their roots in the local music scene, 89.3 The Current and Vega Productions will put on a show of epic proportions with Midwestern flare. Headlining will be Solid Gold, fresh off their media blitz in New York City. Fueled by blogosphere buzz, these hometown boys are just finding recognition in the national music scene. Their synth-inspired electro-pop will provide a dance-worthy soundtrack for those looking to ring in the New Year with cocktails and top-notch local tunes. Also in the mix will be Freddy Fresh's underground beats; Heatbox's tongue-twisting, lyrical skatting; and the Histronic's classic jam-band favorites. For the visually stimulated folks, a light show, aerial performers, live painters, and a balloon drop will accompany the sounds onstage. Even better, 100 percent of the proceeds from the evening go to rebuild the fledgling music and arts program at Edison High School in Minneapolis. To make a night and a morning of it, book a room at the Marriott with a special rate offered to concertgoers.
