12th Annual Twin Cities Book Festival

The Twin Cities Book Festival aims to please all types of readers — including literary diehards, graphic-novel fans, children, and all manners in between — by striving to be an inclusive and balanced celebration of all things book-related. The event is a gathering of authors and literary panelists, but will also feature a used book sale, fiction showcases, a children's pavilion, crafts, and a commemorative literary journal to which attendees can submit their own work. The festival, sponsored by Twin Cities-based lit review Rain Taxi, is now in its 12th year and continues to grow. This Saturday, it will occupy the Historic Progress Center at the State Fairgrounds. With over 40 authors presenting and more than 100 total exhibits, the festival makes it difficult to create a concise list of happenings, but featured presenters include Kate Bornstein, Mark Z. Danielewski, Susan Isaacs, Sharon Olds, Candace Savage, Gerald Stern, Jeff and Ann Vandermeer, and Chris Ware. There will be many more authors chatting on panels covering genres like world fiction, young adult, LGBTQ writing, author publicity, and children's literature. So it's time to put down your favorite book and get out of the house for this always-free event. Visit www.raintaxi.com/bookfest for info.
