BEST BAND TO LEAVE THE TWIN CITIES IN THE PAST 12 MONTHS The Siren Six!
First of all, Cute Band Alert! The blistering ska band Siren Six!--whose personnel ranged in appearance from James Dean kool to geek charm--did nothing for the Twin Cities dating scene by hitting Hollywood to chase down stardom. The music scene misses them too. The Six! usually are tossed into the pool of neo-ska bands, and to that end, they single-handedly revive our faith in ska's new generation. But the Sirens are nothing if not a pure rock 'n' roll band (we're not talking about a lame Mighty Mighty Bosstones knockoff), gussied up with horns and a great '60s-style organ. While recording in L.A., they've been packing in clubs like the Whiskey-A-Go-Go and making plenty of influential friends; No Doubt's Gwen Stefani is reportedly one of their biggest fans. More power to 'em: We just hope they make good on rumors to move back someday.
