BEST FRIED CHICKEN Lucille's Kitchen
When Wingmaster--the West Broadway hot spot for fried chicken--closed its doors, the fried-chicken community wept. When Wingmaster wingmaster Henry Sullivan joined forces with his sister Lucille Williams to serve his signature golden-crisp fried chicken alongside Lucille's incredible okra, super sweet potato pie, and Brie-tender ribs in a low-key North Minneapolis strip mall, the fried-chicken community threw their hats up in the air. But when we got to try the wingmaster's ultracrisp chicken served smothered under a ladle of Lucille's homemade chicken gravy, we took to the streets and danced. (Keep in mind, though, that while Lucille's can easily accommodate orders for two or three hundred wings at a time, if you want more than a thousand for your Sunday night TV party, you have to order in advance.)
