Advice to Fetus shoppers: When you go in, don't think, just grab--everything that looks good. Don't even think about the expense until you get into your car. The selection is outstanding in every genre; the jazz and world-music shelves may very well be the best in the Midwest. Last time we dropped by to trod the Fetus's ancient hardwood floors (and plow through the weird incense, poster, and knickknack section), we picked up a great Miami bass compilation, a fly set by the jazz icon Joe Williams, some Zimbabwean chimurenga, Loretta Lynn's greatest hits, the second Jungle Brothers disc, and a used Tony Toni Toné album. All good. All cheap. All worth eating ramen noodles for the rest of the week.
