Best Fashion Show Minneapolis 2014 - The Shows
Forget New York Fashion Week — we've got our own sartorial gem right here in Minnesota. After spending the early years putting on the Shows at the old Grain Belt Bottling House, MNfashion kicked things into gear in 2013 by bringing the two-night event to Aria in the North Loop. The juxtaposition of Aria's exposed brick and shimmering chandeliers created the perfect atmosphere for the Twin Cities' fashion elite and style enthusiasts to see and be seen before checking out the work of talented local designers. During the Shows in February, local royalty — of the purple persuasion — even made a secret appearance to watch the runway action. Over the years, work showcased on the Shows' catwalk have included collections by Project Runway alums Danielle Everine and Christopher Straub as well as Samantha Rei's fanciful lines, Caroline Hayden's sophisticated looks, and Mary Pranica's knitwear, among dozens of others. Each iteration of the Shows in spring and fall has brought together diverse looks, including both ready-to-wear style and conceptual design work, and has highlighted the immense wealth of talented apparel artists residing in the Twin Cities. Early this year, MNfashion announced they would take a break from producing the Shows for Minneapolis-St. Paul Fashion Week. We hope MNfashion reconsiders, because if they're good enough for Prince, they're definitely doing something right.
