Best Emerging Actor Minneapolis 2014 - David Darrow
When David Darrow appeared in Skiing on Broken Glass last fall at the Guthrie Theater, he proved the power one performer can have over an entire production. Though the show was far from a total success — the story of an unlikely love affair between a lonely author and the trick he brought home one night felt like a relic from an earlier era of gay stories — Darrow's performance was electrifying. Jittery from the opening moments, he created a fully realized character out of the bare elements of the script and in turn led the other actors into stronger performances. It was telling that the weakest parts of the play happened when Darrow wasn't on stage. Darrow's range was on full display that evening — a stage presence we've come to expect from him and hope to see more of in the years to come.
