Best College Recruit Minneapolis 2014 - Tyus Jones
Tyus Jones has been called the best young point guard in Minnesota, and for good reason. The Apple Valley High School phenom, dubbed "a highly intelligent floor general" by ESPN, ranks among the top five players in the country, though he's long been a target of NCAA talent scouts. The summer after his freshman year, Jones wooed spectators at the Peach Jam AAU tournament and received offers from two Big Ten schools, adding to the ones already dangled by Baylor and Minnesota. The accolades during his high school career include a gold medal with USA Basketball's national team. This season, Jones broke his school's record with nine three-pointers in a single game. Only seconds after Jones verbally committed to Duke — where he'll join two other star recruits, Jahlil Okafor and Justise Winslow — the team was widely chosen as a favorite for the 2014-15 National Championships. As far as hoop dreams go, this one could hardly have been better scripted.
