Best Bookstore (New) in St. Paul Minneapolis 2014 - Common Good Books
With four colleges nearby, it makes sense that Common Good Books is thriving. The store opened in 2006, and was originally tucked away in the small space below Nina's Coffee Cafe, but the venture proved so prosperous that the business relocated in 2012 to bigger digs at the heavily trafficked corner of Snelling and Grand. Since then, things have continued to go well. Of all the bookstores around town, Common Good is probably the busiest schedule-wise, as it hosts a slew of happenings each week, including readings, book-club discussions, open mics, and poetry sessions. Proprietor Garrison Keillor also adds written-word cred to the space, which boasts a healthy local-author section, as well as a kid-friendly corner.
