Chef Shack
We were already used to following them. Carrie Summer and Lisa Carlson led the local food truck charge as the pioneers of the Twin Cities' street eats scene. Each summer, when they returned and rolled out those trucks, we would happily trail them anywhere. It was only natural, then, that when they opened their weekends-only brick-and-mortar spot in Bay City, Wisconsin, we wanted to follow them there too. Open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, the stationary Chef Shack continues to serve the mouth-watering, locally driven food that fans have come to expect from the truck. It also has a full bar with a well-chosen wine and beer selection. The interior feels like a cozy Wisconsin cabin hideaway. The scenic byways between here and there are enough to inspire a road trip. Knowing that the ride's reward is one of Chef Shack's scrumptious meals makes the call of the open road irresistible.
