Twenty-six years old and still running strong, Summit EPA reaffirmed its position with a 2012 silver medal for Classic English-Style Pale Ale at the World Beer Cup. The brewery's signature recipe, known for a healthy hop kick balanced by a tasty malt finish, continues to serve not only as the brewery's flagship beer but as one for the blossoming Minnesota craft brew movement as whole. With an abundance of startup brewers and new styles hitting the market, they all draw inspiration from their forebears in St. Paul. This may be the strongest post-Prohibition brew scene the state has seen, but the newbies are still playing catch-up to the delectable pale ale that is already entrenched in nearly every drinking establishment in town.

Really? This category was Best Local Beer? Are you sure it was not "Best Local Beer that scores a 76 out of 100 on Ratebeer or an 84 out of 100 on Beer Advocate" category? Wow..all the phenomenal beers being produced in the Twin Cities--beer that people across the US want you to ship to them to try--and we declare Summit EPA it. So very disappointing. Summit is not "bad beer"...it is good beer. Not great...and certainly not "best".
