You already go there for the semi-annual wine sale and stellar selection of Scotch, but if you haven't stopped by Surdyk's deli for lunch you haven't experienced the full set of this store's many charms. The relationships Surdyk's has with farmers, local dairies, and regional purveyors make for sandwiches of the highest quality, stuffed with champion cheeses, crisply fried fillets of organic Kadejan Farms chicken, and sustainable smoked salmon from Coastal Seafoods. Even the baked-in-house brioche bread is made with butter from Hope Creamery. Our particular favorite sandwich is the Franklin, a gourmet grilled cheese with sweet, seedy figs and smoky bacon. It pairs wonderfully with cold roasted vegetable sides like beets a la Grecque, protein-rich quinoa salad, or farfalle with pungent creamy feta. Looking for a sweet finish?
